This week Air Europa started a high frequency connection from its Madrid hub to Porto. Cutting the ribbon to mark the start of the 24 times weekly flights were: Air Europa Deputy CEO Jóse María Hoyos and Spain General Consul in Porto Don José Antonio Martínez de Villareal Baena. Helping the Spanish airline boss cut the route launch cake was Porto Airport Director Fernando Vieira.
- Air Europa has commenced its second high frequency operation to Portugal, adding to its existing services into Lisbon, with the start of 24 times weekly operations to Porto (OPO) from its growing Madrid (MAD) hub. Beginning on 6 October, the service will be operated by a 50-seat Privilege Style ERJ 145. Competition on the city pair is significant, with Iberia offering 22 times weekly operations, TAP Portugal 20 times weekly and Ryanair double-daily.
