On 1 October, NIKI commenced its first route to Morocco, with twice-weekly flights from Vienna to Marrakech. Celebrating the inaugural flight are: Michael Konsel, retired Austrian football goalkeeper; Gitta Saxx, German fashion model, TV presenter and DJ; Christian Lesjak, CEO, NIKI; Dagmar Koller, Austrian actress and singer; and Papis Loveday, international fashion model.
- NIKI, the wholly-owned Austrian-based subsidiary of airberlin, entered the Moroccan market with two new routes launched from Vienna (VIE) on 1 October. Firstly the airline commenced twice-weekly (Mondays and Wednesdays) operations on the 2,966-kilometre sector to Agadir (AGA), which is served utilising a mixed fleet of its 180-seat A320s and 212-seat A321s. Secondly, NIKI launched weekly (Wednesdays) flights to Marrakech (RAK), using its 180-seat A320s. No other airline serves these two airport pairs.
