Ceremonies were held at both ends of the route on 9 October to celebrate the launch of Jetstar Japan’s new daily service between Osaka Kansai and Oita. No other carrier serves the airport pair but there are eight flights per day between Osaka Itami and Oita.
- Jetstar Japan continues to expand its domestic network. On 9 October the airline introduced daily flights from Osaka Kansai (KIX) to Oita (OIT) using its A320s. The 341-kilometre route is not flown by any other carrier, though All Nippon Airways (four daily flights), Ibex Airlines (daily flights) and Japan Airlines (thrice-daily flights) all operate from Osaka Itami to Oita. Jetstar Japan already serves Oita from its Tokyo Narita base, a route that was introduced at the end of March 2013. Oita Airport serves Oita prefecture which is located on the north-east corner of Kyushu Island which is in south-west Japan.
