- Interjet chose Thursday 23 October as the launch date for their new 12 times weekly service connecting Monterrey (MTY) in Mexico with Houston Intercontinental (IAH) in Texas. The airline will operate a mix of its 150-seat A320s and 93-seat Superjet 100s on the 663-kilometre route which is already served by United Airlines (55 weekly flights), Aeromexico (13) and fellow Mexican LCC VivaAerobus (six). According to Interjet CEO Jose Luis Garza, “With these new flights, Interjet strengthens its international presence by connecting two of the most important cities in terms of international business. Monterrey and Houston are key destinations to the expansion of our airline and passengers can enjoy all the benefits they will receive flying with us.” Houston Aviation Director Mario C. Diaz added, “Houston passengers continue to enjoy the benefits that inherently come with increased competition and that’s especially true for passengers boarding international flights. The Interjet team understands and embraces the competitive nature of the airline industry and we welcome them as a member of the family of air carriers at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.” Interjet now serves three US cities non-stop from Monterrey, the others being Las Vegas in Nevada and San Antonio in Texas.
