germanwings launches first service to Cyprus

germanwings’ new weekly (Saturday) service from Cologne Bonn to Larnaca arrives at the Cypriot airport under cover of darkness. Passengers on the first flights were welcomed by representatives of Hermes Airports, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and germanwings representatives in Cyprus. On arrival, they were given the opportunity to try some local hospitality comprising Soutzouko (a traditional local sweet) and Kommandaria (a traditional local wine). This is germanwings’ first ever service to Cyprus.

  • germanwings has launched its first ever flights to Cyprus. On 1 November Lufthansa’s in-house LCC began weekly (Saturday) flights between Cologne Bonn (CGN) and Larnaca (LCA). The 2,773-kilometre sector will be operated by the airline’s A319s and faces no direct competition. Heinz Joachim Schöttes, SVP Corporate Communications, germanwings, stated: “We are delighted to announce the launching of the new weekly flight from Cologne Bonn to Larnaca. Cyprus is a significant, all-year-round destination for holiday and business travellers, due to its strategic geographical position and warm climate. We are convinced that we will contribute to the tourism development of the Mediterranean island, favourite destination for Germans and all Europeans.”
