Garuda Indonesia starts new domestic link
- Garuda Indonesia launched a new domestic route on 14 November. The SkyTeam carrier began daily flights on the 1,666-kilometre route between Surabaya (SUB) and Manado (MDC) using its 737-800s. The route is already served by Lion Air with twice-daily flights and Citilink (a wholly-owned Garuda Indonesia subsidiary) with five weekly flights. Garuda Indonesia now operates 12 routes from Surabaya (where it is the second biggest carrier after Lion Air with 15% of seat capacity), and six routes from Manado (where it has a 19% share of weekly seat capacity). In total this December, Garuda Indonesia will be operating 81 domestic routes, served by just over 450 daily flights.
