LIAT launches new island-hopping service

- LIAT, the pan-Caribbean airline, on 2 December launched four times weekly flights between Dominica (DOM) and St. Maarten (SXM) in the Antilles. The 336-kilometre island-hopping service will be operated by the airline’s ATR 42s. The route is already served by Air Sunshine (five weekly flights), and Winair (four weekly flights). LIAT operates a fleet of 17 turboprop aircraft, a mix of ATR 42s, ATR 72s and De Havilland Dash 8s. According to available schedule data, the airline currently operates from 17 airports across the Caribbean with Bridgetown in Barbados its biggest centre of operations, with almost 100 weekly departures. St. Maarten ranks third with 56 weekly departures and Dominica sixth with 36 weekly departures.
