Azul Airlines adds second route to the US
On 15 December, Orlando Airport welcomed the arrival of Azul Airlines’ daily flights from Sao Paulo Viracopos, the airline’s second route to the US. Cutting the celebratory cake’s first slice are: David Neeleman, Founder and CEO, Azul; and James E. Rose, Deputy Executive Director, Business Services and Facilities, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
Besides this, celebrations took place at the Brazilian end of the route as well, where the inaugural flight to Orlando was commemorated with popcorn and cotton candy.
- Azul Airlines, which on 1 December introduced its first international service with flights to Fort Lauderdale, continued to expand its presence in the US with the addition of its second route on 15 December, when it began daily flights between its Sao Paulo Viracopos (VCP) hub and Orlando, FL (MCO). The 6,772-kilometre sector, which is not served by any other operator, will be flown by Azul’s 272-seat A330-200s. See how Orlando Airport’s FTWA compares to the others sent in this week from around the world.
