On 17 December, Air Canada rouge touched down at Phoenix Airport from Vancouver with daily flights. Celebrating the achievement in the terminal are: Chad Makovsky, Assistant Aviation Director for the City of Phoenix; Linden Barnes, Air Canada; Maria Benson, Regional Sales Manager, Air Canada; and Glenn Williamson, Founder and CEO, Canada Arizona Business Council.
- Air Canada rouge, the new venture leisure airline from Air Canada that was launched in July 2013, expanded its seasonal offering from Vancouver (YVR), with two new routes operated by its 136-seat A319s. Firstly, on 17 December, the airline introduced daily flights to Phoenix, AZ (PHX), which are operated until 30 April. Secondly, on 18 December, Air Canada’s subsidiary commenced thrice-weekly flights until 12 April on the 1,792-kilometre sector to Palm Springs, CA (PSP). While the 1,979-kilometre airport pair to Phoenix is already flown by US Airways (12 times weekly) as well as WestJet (daily), Air Canada rouge will face direct competition on the route to Palm Springs from WestJet’s twice-daily flights.
