Spirit Airlines’ new routes from Cleveland
We’ve got spirit, yes we do. We’ve got spirit, how ‘bout you? Cleveland Hopkins International Airport threw a rocking pep rally on 15 January, to celebrate Spirit Airlines’ first flights from the airport. The event featured all of the pep rally staples: a high-school pep band, an emcee, hand painted posters and of course a fantastic cake.
On 15 January, Tampa Airport celebrated Spirit Airlines’ inaugural flight to Cleveland with a special event. The passengers enjoyed a special cake depicting the two destinations, giveaways, a DJ and the chance to spin the wheel, answer trivia question and win prizes. Getting ready to cut the cake are: Chris Minner, VP Marketing, Tampa Airport; Michael Pewther, Senior Director Sales, Spirit Airlines; Joe Lopano, CEO, Tampa Airport; and Edward Garduno, GM, Spirit Airlines.
- Spirit Airlines introduced domestic flights from Cleveland (CLE) during the course of last week with three new routes, all of which are served by its 145-seat A319s. On 15 January, the LCC started daily operations to Orlando (MCO), a sector also flown by United Airlines (14) and Frontier Airlines (12). The same day, Spirit expanded its seasonal offering to Tampa (TPA) with thrice-weekly seasonal services until 14 April. This airport pair is already operated by Frontier (seven) and United (seven). In addition, on 16 January, the airline introduced four weekly flights to Southwest Florida (RSW) until 15 April. The 1,492-kilometre route to one of the busiest single runway airports in the country is served by Frontier (nine) and United (seven).
