9 Air launches commercial flights in China

9 Air’s routes from Guangzhou, Wenzhou & Harbin

Thursday 15 January was 9 Air’s inaugural day of scheduled services. The Juneyao Airlines subsidiary operated Guangzhou-Wenzhou-Harbin and Harbin-Wenzhou-Guangzhou. These routes will be flown daily by the airline’s 737-800 and face significant competition.

  • 9 Air (IATA code AQ), the latest new airline to start commercial domestic services in China, began operating scheduled flights on 15 January 2015. The budget subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines is operating daily flights between Guangzhou (CAN) and Wenzhou (WNZ), and Wenzhou and Harbin (HRB) using a 737-800. As a result the airline also offers a one-stop, same aircraft service between Guangzhou and Harbin. All three routes are already served by other carriers. In the case of the 916-kilometre route between Guangzhou and Wenzhou, five other carriers are providing competition.
