Aeroflot starts Samarkand service from Sheremetyevo hub
- Aeroflot has begun operations to the third largest city in Uzbekistan, complementing its existing five times weekly operations to the capital city of Tashkent. Commenced on 16 January from its Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO) hub, the new route to Samarkand (SKD) will be operated weekly (Fridays) by the SkyTeam carrier’s 170-seat A321 fleet. The 2,823-kilometre sector will encounter no direct competition, however Uzbekistan Airways offers a four times weekly service to Moscow Domodedovo, VIM Airlines operates the same airport pair weekly, and UTair flies twice-weekly between Moscow Vnukovo and Samarkand.
