Garuda Indonesia began operating a new domestic route on Monday 2 February. The national carrier and SkyTeam member now flies four times weekly between Medan (KNO) and Cut Nyak Dien (MEQ) using its ATR 72s. The 316-kilometres route is already served by Lion Air subsidiary Wings Air. Garuda now serves 10 destinations from the new Kuala Namu airport in Medan, nine in Indonesia as well as Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
