A special welcome was arranged for the first passengers arriving in Funchal from Manchester last week with easyJet. Passengers were offered flowers upon arrival for the new twice-weekly service, which began on 14 February.
- easyJet has now taken its weekly rotations from its UK bases to Madeira up to 13 weekly flights, with the introduction of twice-weekly (Mondays and Saturdays) flights between Manchester (MAN) and Funchal (FNC) on 14 February. These A320-operated flights will join those from Edinburgh, which started on 3 February, as well as London Gatwick and Bristol, currently flown to the Atlantic Ocean island by the airline. Two incumbents will provide competition on the airport pair – with Jet2.com and Thomson Airways both operating weekly services on this 2,570-kilometre sector.
