- Cathay Pacific Airways has resumed non-stop flights to Zurich (ZRH) in Switzerland thanks to the introduction on 29 March of daily flights from Hong Kong (HKG). The 9,276-kilometre route will be operated by the oneworld carrier’s 777-300ERs and will face direct competition from Star Alliance member SWISS, who also operate daily flights. Speaking when the route was announced last May, Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Ivan Chu said: “We are very pleased to be able to add Zurich to our growing international network. Zurich and Hong Kong are two of the world’s leading financial centres, where people appreciate high standards of service, and we are seeing considerable demand for a quality travel experience, especially on long-haul routes.” The route was last operated by Cathay Pacific in October 2001.
