Ryanair strengthens European network with 18 new routes
On 1 April, Porto Airport welcomed Ryanair’s first service from Ponta Delgada in the Azores with a special event in the terminal. Cutting the cake is Porto’s marketing team: Márcia Canêdo and Paula Barbosa.

Celebrations continued at Porto, this time for Ryanair’s 13th French destination from the Portuguese airport – Lorient. The new route was celebrated with the traditional cake and orange juice.

More celebrations took place at Athens Airport with a cake cutting ceremony for Ryanair’s new routes to Budapest, Bratislava and Santorini.

On 1 April, Ryanair touched down at Budapest Airport from Athens, where it was welcomed with a cake ceremony on the apron. The new sector will be served four times weekly, competing with Aegean Airlines.

- Ryanair, which during the course of last week added 21 new airport pairs to its S15 network, continued its expansion with 18 further new routes this week. With the longest sector being the 2,554-kilometre route from Ponta Delgada (PDL) to London Stansted (STN), and the shortest being launched from Athens (ATH) to Santorini (JTR) at 219 kilometres, the ULCC will face direct competition on six airport pairs..
