Southwest Airlines expands with 10 domestic routes

On 8 April, Milwaukee Airport celebrated Southwest Airlines’ inaugural flight to Dallas Love Field, a route operated daily.

More celebrations took place at San Jose Airport, for another daily service to Dallas Love Field.

  • Southwest Airlines continued to expand rapidly in the US domestic market with the addition of 10 new airport pairs on 8 April, all of which are served by its 143-seat 737-700s. Nine of these new additions were launched from Dallas Love Field (DAL), with the route to Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) being the longest sector at 2,683 kilometres. In addition, Southwest introduced flights from Kansas City (MCI) to New York LaGuardia (LGA), competing with Delta Air Lines’ 24 weekly departures. Notably, the average weekly frequency across the 10 new routes is around 7.1.
