A cake, a ribbon cutting and dancing – all the components for a great route launch. This one sees Turkish Airlines add another European spoke to its more than impressive network – a four times weekly service to Bari.
Another week, another route launch at Porto, and another picture of the airport’s marketing team ‒ Paula Barbosa and Márcia Canêdo ‒ cutting another great cake, this time for Turkish Airlines’ launch of four times weekly services. Cutting the ribbon were: Ali Bulut, Turkish Airlines GM Porto; Kerem Sarp, Turkish Airlines VP Marketing & Sales; and Fernando Vieira, Porto Airport Director.
- Turkish Airlines started two new routes in the last week, beginning new European spokes to Bari (BRI) and Porto (OPO) from its Istanbul Atatürk (IST) hub. Commenced on 28 April, and with existing services to Rome, Venice, Milan, Turin, Naples, Bologna, Genoa, Catania and Pisa, Bari became the airline’s 10th destination in Italy. Two days later, the Star Alliance member began operations to Porto – the airline’s second destination in Portugal. The launch of the new route, was celebrated in the check in area, by the airline, together with passengers and guests, and by the airport, in the departure lounge with the traditional cake, champagne and orange juice. Both routes are flown by a variety of the carrier’s short-haul equipment on a four times weekly basis, and neither route will face any direct competition.
