Celebrating the start of Volotea’s new routes from Asturias are: Volotea’s General Director, Lázaro Ros; Volotea CEO, Carlos Muñoz; Airport Director, Carlos Domingo; and President of Asturias Business Federation, Pedro Luis Fernández.
- On 19 May, Volotea, launched new services from its latest Spanish base in Asturias (OVD) with twice-weekly flights (Tuesdays and Fridays) to Alicante (ALC), and twice-weekly services (Thursdays and Sundays) to Seville (SVQ). On 23 May, the airline will also launch weekly services (Saturdays) between Milan/Bergamo (BGY) to Pantelleria (PNL) in Sicily. The inaugural aircraft was named “Asturias Spirit”, the winning entry of a website contest. The new routes from Asturias compliment current services by Volotea from the airport to Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, and Malaga. Seville sees direct competition from Vueling with thrice-weekly services. On 31 May, new services will also be launched between Asturias and Menorca on a weekly basis (Sundays).
