In honour of its new services from Cardiff Airport, Flybe named one of its E195s ‘Yn Falch o Wasanaethu Cymru… Proudly serving Wales’. The airline will base a second E195 at the Welsh airport from 1 September. Celebrating with the aircraft are: Saad Hammad, CEO, Flybe; Carwyn Jones, First Minister for Wales; and Debra Barber, MD, Cardiff Airport.
- Flybe launched its latest base on 1 June at Cardiff (CWL). The carrier based one of its E195s at the Welsh airport, and launched services to Dublin (DUB) six times weekly, Edinburgh (EDI) daily, and Paris CDG (CDG) thrice-weekly. The carrier will also launch services to Cork, Faro, Glasgow, Milan Malpensa and Munich in the coming weeks. On 1 September, a second E195 will be based at the airport. The news follows the recently launched Bournemouth base by the airline. Prior to this Flybe operated services to Belfast City, Düsseldorf, Jersey, and winter seasonal flights to Geneva from Cardiff. Flybe CEO, Saad Hammad, said: “The opening of our new Cardiff base today is a proud moment for us and marks yet another important milestone for Flybe. It enhances and extends our already established presence here at the national airport for Wales. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to grow and expand further the choice of routes available to those choosing to fly from Cardiff.” Debra Barber, Cardiff Airport MD, also commented by saying: “Our partnership with Flybe gives the people of Wales more choice in routes, more frequent services and great value flights. The fact that Flybe will base two of its Embraer E195 aircraft here is testament to its commitment to Cardiff.” See how Cardiff Airport’s FTWA compares to others from around the world.
