Copa Airlines new in New Orleans

The inaugural aircraft waits at the gate to depart while passengers were welcomed with traditional Panama activities. Flights between Panama City and New Orleans will operate four times weekly using the Star Alliance member’s 737-700s, and faces no direct competition.

  • Copa Airlines launched services on the 24 June from Panama City (PTY) to New Orleans (MSY). Flights on the 2,583-kilometre sector will operate four times weekly using the Star Alliance member’s 737-700s, and faces no direct competition. The latest launch makes New Orleans destination number #11 for the carrier in the US, with San Francisco becoming destination #12 in September. Fernando Fondevila, Commercial Regional Manager for Copa Airlines for North America, said: “Copa’s New Orleans-Panama service will bring all of Latin America closer than ever before for Louisiana business and leisure travelers. We’re proud to provide the only non-stop service between New Orleans and Panama, as well as unsurpassed connectivity to destinations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.” Iftikhar Ahmad, Director of Aviation, added: “We have worked diligently to obtain this flight and build awareness in order to sustain and grow this new international route. We encourage our community to take advantage of Copa Airlines’ extensive service throughout Latin America.” Last year Copa Airlines transported more than 11.6 million passengers.
