- Copa Airlines launched services on the 24 June from Panama City (PTY) to New Orleans (MSY). Flights on the 2,583-kilometre sector will operate four times weekly using the Star Alliance member’s 737-700s, and faces no direct competition. The latest launch makes New Orleans destination number #11 for the carrier in the US, with San Francisco becoming destination #12 in September. Fernando Fondevila, Commercial Regional Manager for Copa Airlines for North America, said: “Copa’s New Orleans-Panama service will bring all of Latin America closer than ever before for Louisiana business and leisure travelers. We’re proud to provide the only non-stop service between New Orleans and Panama, as well as unsurpassed connectivity to destinations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.” Iftikhar Ahmad, Director of Aviation, added: “We have worked diligently to obtain this flight and build awareness in order to sustain and grow this new international route.
