The crew of the inaugural flight from Stockholm Arlanda are greeted with flowers from the team at Ankara Airport. Flights on the city pair will be flown weekly on Thursdays, facing no direct competition.
- SAS began operations on the 1 July between Gothenburg (GOT) and Gazipaşa (GZP), a 2,794-kilometre sector that will operate weekly on Wednesdays, and faces no direct competition. On 2 July, the Star Alliance member began services between Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and Ankara (ESB). The capital cities of both Sweden and Turkey will be connected with a weekly flight that will operate each Thursday, also not facing any competition. Commenting on the launch in Ankara, Nuray Demirer, TAV Esenboğa GM, said: “We are now connected to 36 domestic and 23 international destinations in 12 countries from Ankara. We are very glad to welcome the new flights that connect the capital cities of Turkey and Sweden, following on from the launch of flight by SAS from Ankara to Copenhagen which started in June.”
