Malawi has become the latest country market to be served by Tanzania-based fastjet. Twice-weekly flights to Lilongwe began on 27 July and will face competition from Malawian Airlines. Before the first flight the crew operating the inaugural service pose by one of fastjet’s three A319s.
- fastjet has added Malawi to its network with the launch on 27 July of twice-weekly (Mondays and Fridays) service between its base at Dar es Salaam (DAR) in Tanzania and Lilongwe (LLW). The 970-kilometre route is already serves by Malawian Airlines which operates thrice-weekly Q400 services. fastjet will operate one of its three A319s on the route. The LCC now serves destinations in South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, as well as Malawi. In June the airline carried 65,216 passengers.
