Southwest Airlines begins 13 new routes
Southwest Airlines Pittsburgh to Dallas Love Field
On 8 August, Southwest Airlines launched services from Columbus to Boston and Oakland. Flights on both sectors will be operated using the airline’s 737-700s.

On 8 August, Portland Airport welcomed Southwest Airlines’ new twice-daily service from Orange County. The 1,382-kilometre sector will face direct competition from Alaska Airlines.

On 9 August, Charleston Airport celebrated Southwest Airlines’ inaugural service to Dallas Love Field. Services on the 1,567-kilometre sector will operate daily using the carrier’s 737-700s.
On 9 August, Pittsburgh Airport celebrated Southwest’s inaugural service to Dallas Love Field. To commemorate the occasion the airport did not just make one, but two cakes for the first passengers to enjoy, as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony and live entertainment at the gate. Flights will operate daily on the 1,704-kilometre sector.
- Southwest Airlines launched 13 new services on 8 and 9 August, with nine of the routes launching from Dallas Love Field (DAL).
