The 5,952-kilometre route will be served by the airline’s A330-300s four times weekly, departing Kuala Lumpur on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 23:35 and arriving in Japan at 08:10 the following morning. Benyamin Ismael, CEO of AirAsia X said: “We are really thrilled to be here today. Japan is one of our core markets in the Asia Pacific region and we are very proud to introduce another unique route connecting Kuala Lumpur directly into Northern Japan. The healthy load factor of 90% for our inaugural flight and the growing forward bookings we have received gives us confidence that this route will thrive. We are proud to be the connection between both cities and look forward to work together with all relevant parties to draw in connecting passengers from all over Asia, Australia and beyond into Sapporo.”
