Akron/Canton Airport in the US welcomed service by United Airlines to New York Newark on 25 October, with celebrations taking place the next day. The 612-kilometre sector will operate twice-daily according to OAG. The airport celebrated the launch with a spectacular cake, while passengers also received a special glass as a token of the launch.
One of the most famous US presidents turned up to help Moline Airport celebrate the launch of services to Washington Dulles on 26 October, although the first flight according to OAG commenced on 25 October. Services between the two airports will operate daily on-board ERJ 145s flown by ExpressJet.
- United Airlines commenced three new regional services during the course of last week. Services between Washington Dulles (IAD) and Moline (MLI) in Illinois launched on 25 October with daily service flown by ExpressJet’s ERJ 145s, while services between New York Newark (EWR) and Akron/Canton (CAK) also launched on 25 October, a 612-kilometre sector that will be flown twice-daily and also served by ExpressJet’s ERJ 145s. The same day the Star Alliance member also launched services from San Francisco (SFO) to Northwest Arkansas (XNA) in Arkansas. The 2,507-kilometre sector will be operated daily with CRJ 700s flown by SkyWest Airlines. None of the carrier’s new routes will face direct competition according to OAG Schedules Analyser data.
