The first ever non-stop service to Cuba from Southwest Florida Airport was greeted by this fantastic Cuban-themed cake. Twice-weekly Choice Aire services to Havana began on 2 November. Cutting the cake were: Danny Looney, CEO, Choice Aire; Carol Obermeier, Director of Air Service Development, Lee County Port Authority; and Robert Ball, Executive Director, Lee County Port Authority.
- Choice Aire now operates twice-weekly (Mondays and Fridays) flights from Southwest Florida (RSW) to Havana (HAV). The service, which started on 2 November, is operated on a Swift Air 737 with 126 seats and faces no direct competition. This is the first time that Southwest Florida has had non-stop service to Cuba. The Lee County Port Authority, which operates Southwest Florida, held an inaugural event to commemorate this historic flight with Cuban food and music, as well as a specially decorated cake.
