American Airlines adds four new routes

American Airlines began services between New York LaGuardia and Akron/Canton on 5 November. The 636-kilometre domestic link will be flown daily. The news follows on from United Airlines which commenced a double-daily service from the airport to New York Newark on 25 October. Akron/Canton celebrated the launch of American Airlines’ LaGuardia route by handing out commemorative travel cups to the inaugural passengers.

The outgoing Mayor of Memphis, A C Wharton, was on hand to welcome American Airlines’ inaugural flight from New York LaGuardia to the Tennessee airport on 5 November. The route will operate double-daily with a mix of E170 and E175 aircraft.

  • American Airlines began services on four new routes this week, three of them US domestic services, while the fourth was an international route from Los Angeles (LAX) to Mazatlan (MZT) in Mexico. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data for week commencing 9 November, the oneworld airline now operates to 51 non-stop destinations from Los Angeles, 27 from New York LaGuardia (LGA) and 137 from Charlotte Douglas (CLT), as a result of these recent route launches.
