There were welcome banners at both ends of the route for Hong Kong Airlines’ new daily service between Hong Kong and Krabi in Thailand. No other carrier serves the route, which becomes the carrier’s ninth international route and 28th in all.
- Hong Kong Airlines began operating a daily service between Hong Kong (HKG) and Krabi (KBV) in Thailand on 13 November. The 2,243-kilometre route will be operated by the airline’s A320s and will face no competition. Flights depart Hong Kong at 00:50 arriving in Krabi at 03:30. The return flights leaves Krabi at 04:30 and gets back to Hong Kong at 08:50. Hong Kong Airlines now serves 28 destinations from its home base; 19 in China, four in Japan, two in Thailand (Bangkok and Krabi), and one each in Indonesia, Taiwan and Vietnam. The inauguration celebration for the new route to Krabi included, before departure, all passengers being presented with a specially designed certificate and commemorative souvenirs. Li Dianchun, Commercial Director of Hong Kong Airlines, said: “The Krabi route has received overwhelming response from the public and widespread popularity among travellers since its tickets have been opened for sale. Coinciding with the upcoming winter season, we believe the new route will provide our passengers with more travel options for enjoying the gorgeous beaches and sunshine in this chilly winter.”
