Goody bags were handed out on AirAsia India’s inaugural flight between Delhi and Visakhapatnam on 20 November. This brings to 12 the number of domestic routes operated by the LCC which now has a 2.1% share of the Indian domestic market according to DGAC statistics for October 2015.
- AirAsia India has made Visakhapatnam (VTZ) on India’s east coast its latest destination from its base at Delhi (DEL). On 20 November the LCC began operating daily flights on the 1,355-kilometre route, which is already served by Air India (nine weekly flights), IndiGo (daily flights) and JetKonnect (also daily flights). AirAsia India now operates a total of 12 domestic routes generating 280 weekly flights. According to planespotters.net the airline currently operates six 180-seat A320s the most recent of which joined the fleet in October. According to Indian government statistics AirAsia India’s share of the Indian domestic market in October was 2.1%, carrying 150,000 passengers at an average load factor of 80.6%.
