Meridiana made its long-awaited return to Munich Airport on 30 November, with the start of double-daily services from Milan Linate. Cutting the aircraft-shaped cake were Andreas von Puttkamer, SVP Aviation Munich Airport and Andrea Andorno, CCO Meridiana.
- Meridiana commenced its first international route from Milan Linate (LIN) on 30 November, as the Italian airline added Munich (MUC) to its previously domestic-only network from the Italian airport. It also flies to its domestic strongholds of Catania, Naples and Olbia from the downtown Milanese airport. The route also marks the airline’s return to the German airport. The 375-kilometre sector will be flown 12 times weekly by the carrier’s 737-700 equipment, but will face no direct competition. That said, both easyJet (11 weekly flights) and Lufthansa (39 weekly flights) do offer the city pair, but both from Milan Malpensa.
