GOL has ventured into the Caribbean market again, following the start on 26 November of its Sao Paulo Guarulhos (GRU) to Aruba (AUA) service – the only route it flies to the island. Other services to the Caribbean include flights to Punta Cana, Barbados and Tobago. Operated twice-weekly (Thursdays and Sundays), the 4,741-kilometre route will encounter no direct competition and is flown by the Brazilian airline’s 737-800 fleet. The only other non-stop service currently offered between Aruba and Brazil is operated twice-weekly by Insel Air Aruba to Manaus using Fokker 70s.
