The traditional ribbon-cutting was held on the apron in front of the Etihad Airways A320 in Dar es Salaam on its inaugural flight from Abu Dhabi on 1 December. The route will be flown on a daily basis.
- Etihad Airways started its ninth direct service into Africa on 1 December with the commencement of daily flights to Dar es Salaam (DAR) from its Abu Dhabi (AUH) hub. The 3,858-kilometre route will be flown by the MEB3 carrier’s 140-seat A320 fleet and will encounter no direct competition. The airline’s other routes into the continent include Johannesburg, Entebbe, Mahé, Nairobi, Lagos, Casablansa, Cairo and Khartoum.
