TAROM on 9 December launched flights between Iasi and Istanbul, as confirmed by their website. The city pair will be flown twice-weekly, with the SkyTeam member using its B737-300s on the route. The airport celebrated the launch with a cake cutting ceremony and traditional Turkish dancing.
- TAROM commenced services from Iasi (IAS) on 9 December to Istanbul Atatürk (IST). The SkyTeam member will operate the 695-kilometre sector twice-weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) using its B737-300s on the city pair. The route will face no direct competition. Flights leave the Romanian facility at 20:50, arriving into the Turkish hub at 22:30. The return flight leaves Istanbul at 23:15 arriving into Iasi at 00:55 the following morning. This latest route launch brings to eight the total number of destinations served by TAROM from Iasi, with Istanbul Atatürk joining Bologna, Bucharest, London Luton, Munich, Rome Fiumicino, Tel Aviv and Turin. Services to Munich launched on 25 October in time for the start of W15/16.
