Hainan Airlines launches second European route from Xi’an
- Hainan Airlines on 9 December launched its second European service from Xi’an (XIY) with the introduction of twice-weekly flights (Wednesdays and Saturdays) on the 8,015-kilometre route to Rome Fiumicino (FCO). The airline will operate the route, which is not served by any other carrier, using its A330-200s. This is the airline’s second non-stop service to Europe from Xi’an, having launched flights to Paris CDG last September. The only other non-stop service to Europe from China’s eighth busiest airport (almost 30 million passengers in 2014) is a weekly flight to Moscow Sheremetyevo with China Eastern Airlines. For Hainan Airlines, this is its second route to Rome as it already serves the Italian capital from Chongqing with twice-weekly flights this winter.
