Blue Air brings Bucharest closer to Glasgow

Blue Air commenced services between Bucharest and Glasgow on 17 December. Along with a traditional cake-cutting ceremony, Paul White, Business Development Manager, Glasgow Airport, presented Graham Carnie, head of the Romanian Development Group, with a Quaich, a traditional two-handled Scottish drinking cup. Also in attendance were: Tudor Constantinescu, CCO, Blue Air, and Lulia Muntean, Head of Sales, Blue Air. Flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

  • Blue Air launched services between Bucharest (OTP) and Glasgow (GLA) on 17 December. The 2,478-kilometre sector will operate twice-weekly on Thursdays and Sundays according to OAG Schedules Analyser data, with the route being flown by the carrier’s 737-400s. The city pair will face direct competition from Wizz Air, which operates the route twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays using its A320s. From next year, the two carriers will also directly compete against each other on another UK-Romanian city pair, when they both commence operations from Bucharest to Birmingham.
