  • Jin Air has launched its first flight to the US. On 19 December the South Korean carrier began operating five times weekly on the 7,350-kilometre route between Seoul Incheon (ICN) and Honolulu (HNL), the main gateway to Hawaii. Jin Air will utilise 777-200s on the route. The airline has two of the type at its disposal complementing the LCC’s 16 737-800s which form the backbone of the fleet. Competition on the new US route comes from Korean Air (with double daily flights), Asiana Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, which both operate the route five times weekly. Until now Jin Air’s longest route was the 4,319-kilometre sector to Phuket in Thailand.
