Colorful Guizhou Airlines begins operations

Colorful Guizhou Airlines (that’s their name, not us being descriptive) began commercial operations on 31 December 2015 with a flight from its base at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport to Bijie Airport, a route already served thrice-daily by China Airlines Express. The new regional carrier currently has two E190s, having placed an order for up to 17 of the type with Embraer in June 2015.

The start-up regional carrier (IATA code GY – formerly assigned to Gabon Airlines) currently has a fleet of two E190s, but placed orders for up to 17 of the type with Embraer last June. The airline’s inaugural flight was from its home base of Guiyang (KWE) to Bijie (BFJ). The 171-kilometre route is already served by China Airlines Express with thrice-daily flights.
