Avianca adds Quito – Panama City route
- Avianca on 4 February commenced services on the 1,027-kilometre sector between Quito (UIO) and Panama City (PTY). The Star Alliance member will utilise its A319s on the route between the Ecuadorian and Panamanian airports twice-weekly (Thursdays and Sundays). The carrier also joins fellow alliance member Copa Airlines on the city pair, with the national carrier of Panama operating 35 weekly services between the two cities according to OAG Schedules Analyser data. Quito becomes the fourth route for Avianca from Panama City, with the carrier also serving Bogota (Colombia) with 21 weekly flights, San Jose (Costa Rica) with 19 weekly flights and San Salvador (El Salvador) with 11 weekly flights.
