There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony and drinks in Bangkok to celebrate the launch Myanmar National Airlines’ new daily service from Yangon. The route will be operated by the airline’s 737-800s and will face competition from four other carriers.
- Myanmar National Airlines on 20 February began daily flights on the 608-kilometre route from Yangon (RGN) to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) using its 737-800s. Competition on the route comes from Bangkok Airways (offering four daily flights), Thai Airways (three daily flights), Myanmar Airways International (daily flights) and THAI Smile (six weekly flights). Myanmar National Airlines already serves Chiang Mai in Thailand with weekly flights. The carrier’s only other international routes at present are to Hong Kong and Singapore.
