Regional Express fills Virgin void in Perth
- Regional Express (Rex) has been awarded two government-regulated routes from Perth (PER) to Albany (ALH) and Esperance (EPR) starting 28 February, replacing incumbent Virgin Australia Airlines. Currently, Rex operates to around 60 destinations across the Eastern States of Australia and these are its first West Australian routes. The airline will operate its 34-seat Saab 340s on the services, 23 times weekly to Albany and 18 times weekly to Esperance, with an increased number of flights to each destination (compared to the Virgin Australia operation), one-way seats will grow by 6% to Albany and 2% to Esperance. No other operator flies these city pairs.
