SWISS and Aer Lingus go head-to-head in this year’s Budapest Runway Run 4.0 sponsored by Airbus

Budapest Runway Run 4.0 sponsored by Airbus! On Saturday 3 September 2016, Runway 13R-31L, Budapest Airport: runners will once again take to the runway in “The Race to Find the Fastest Airline in the World” and many other prizes for individuals and teams drawn for airlines, airports, and a full range of other aviation enterprises. 

Team Captain of SWISS, the reigning “Fastest Airline in the World”, Aino Bolliger, has told that it is already drumming up interest to go head-to-head with previous champions, Aer Lingus, in the air transport industry’s premier charity-sportive event: The Budapest Runway Run 4.0 sponsored by Airbus which takes place at 11:00 on Saturday 3 September 2016 on Budapest Airport’s 13R-31L runway.

Runners from airlines, airports and enterprises across the aviation community will once again compete for a series of Airport “Golden Cake Trophies” including the key team prize of the “The Fastest Airline in the World” – a record 920 competitors took part in the third annual race last year.

SWISS win! Knocking reigning champions, Aer Lingus, off the podium, SWISS proudly raised the 2015 team trophy. Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh, hoisted the trophy the previous year and vows to return stronger and faster.

Airbus wholeheartedly continues its support

Airbus has confirmed it will once again be main title sponsor of this year’s race which comprises two race distances – 10km (four runway lengths) and 5km (a distance favoured by sofa-loving revenue management executives). “Airbus is extremely proud to be the main sponsor and support the benefiting good causes of this leading sports charity event,” says Chris Buckley – EVP Sales Europe, Airbus – Buckley personally led a 12-strong Airbus team down Budapest’s runway last year.

All entry fees – just €30 before July 2016 – are donated to cancer charities, and other child-focussed good causes. Every finisher is invited to an post-event barbecue on the terrace of  Budapest Airport’s historic Terminal 1 and also receives “The Bron’s Medal” named for Brontë “Bron” Hogan, the publisher’s 12-year-old daughter, who passed away in 2011 after a five-year battle with leukaemia.

Airbus has once again stepped up as the main title sponsor of this year’s Budapest Runway Run, the leading sporting charity event for the global aviation industry. All entry fees are entirely donated to charity and every finisher receives “The Bron’s Medal” in memory of the publisher’s daughter Brontë “Bron” Hogan, who lost her brave battle with leukaemia in 2011.
