V Air introduces Ibaraki service

V Air launched its latest route to Japan on 15 March. The Taiwanese LCC now serves Ibaraki Airport from Taipei with four weekly flights operated by A321s. At the Japanese end of the route there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony and gift exchange featuring Eleni Lung, V Air CEO and Masaru Hashimoto, the Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture.

  • V Air has made Ibaraki (IBR) its fifth destination in Japan. On 15 March, just four days after launching flights to Tokyo Haneda, the Taiwanese LCC began four times weekly flights on the 2,205-kilometre route from Taipei Taoyuan (TPE). The A321-flown service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and faces no direct competition. The airline’s next new route, to Manila, is scheduled to start on 27 March. Its fleet currently comprises two A320s and two A321s. Speaking at the launch, airline CEO Eleni Lung commented: “Ibaraki is a secondary city which is just 65 minutes away from Tokyo, and is blessed with abundant tourist resources. We believe the destination can attract a young generation and backpackers.”
