Turkish Airlines delivers its fifth route from Diyarbakir
Turkish Airlines started a new route between Diyarbakir (DIY) and Erbil (EBL) in Iraq on 11 April. The 378-kilometre, thrice-weekly operation becomes the carrier’s fifth destination to be offered from the south-eastern Turkish city, joining existing flights to Istanbul (Atatürk and Sabiha Gökçen), Ankara and Bursa. Flown by the Star Alliance airline’s A320 fleet, the city pair is currently unserved. The Iraqi city gains its third connection with Turkish Airlines, adding to routes presently offered from Atatürk and Sabiha Gökçen. Last year Diyarbakir Airport handled over two million passengers for the first time, up 15% on its 2014 figure.
