- bmi regional has started its seventh and eighth services from Munich (MUC) this week – to Southampton (SOU) in the UK and Norrköping (NRK) in Sweden. The first of the two new routes will be flown on a 12 times weekly basis, while the latter will be operated six times weekly. Both routes started on 15 April, will be operated by the regional carrier’s ERJ 135 and ERJ 145 fleet, and neither city pair will face any direct competition. The UK-based regional carrier already serves Bern, Bristol, Brno, Milan/Bergamo, Rostock and Rotterdam from the Bavarian hub. An additional route to Liege, which launched last March, is no longer operated. This summer the airline will operate 83 weekly departures from Munich making it its busiest airport, ahead of Bristol with 68 weekly departures and Aberdeen with 38. See how Munich and Southampton airports FTWAs compare to others from around the world.
