Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport was the scene of some celebrations on 28 April as Hainan Airlines became the first Chinese carrier to offer scheduled flights to Israel. The airline’s thrice-weekly flights using A330-200s will compete with El Al, which also offers three flights per week between the two cities.
- Hainan Airlines has become the first Chinese carrier to launch scheduled services to Israel. On 28 April the carrier began thrice-weekly flights (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) on the 7,139-kilometre route between Beijing (PEK) and Tel Aviv (TLV) using its A330-200s. Competition on the route comes from El Al which already operates thrice-weekly flights using its 767s.
