Spotted on return to London Stansted from Routes Europe in Kraków, one of anna.aero’s data elves noticed the latest destination to grace the airport’s screens, Sofia. This was the return leg of the carrier’s second service on the route, which the ULCC will operate daily.

Ryanair celebrated the opening of its Corfu base

Ryanair celebrated the opening of its Corfu base on 26 April, with the ULCC kick-starting proceedings with the inauguration of a twice-weekly (Tuesdays and Saturdays) service to Birmingham. Corfu Airport celebrated the start of services with a traditional route launch cake. The airline will have one based 737-800 at the airport.

  • Ryanair has commenced services on 13 routes across its European network between 25 April and 2 May, including the commencement of based operations from Corfu (CFU). The ULCC kick-started based operations by launching a twice-weekly (Tuesdays and Saturdays) service to Birmingham (BHX). Flights on the 2,181-kilometre sector, the longest of the 13 launched by the carrier during the past two weeks, is the only route to face two incumbents. Another two routes will face direct competition from one carrier. The average sector length of the airline’s latest routes is 1,289-kilometres, with only services on the new connection between Sofia (SOF) and London Stansted (STN) being operated with a daily service. This is the second batch of routes that Ryanair has opened recently, with the carrier adding 41 routes to its network at the start of S16.
