Becoming the airline’s 13th route from Porto Airport was easyJet’s 1,189-kilometre sector to Funchal on the island of Madeira. Launched on 20 May, the service will be operated four times weekly.
Flowers, port and route launch cake were on hand in Funchal to welcome easyJet’s domestic service from Porto. Competing airlines Transavia and TAP Portugal offer the same airport pair with a combined 29 weekly frequencies.
- easyJet has added its third Portuguese domestic service with a link between Porto (OPO) and Funchal (FNC) on 20 May. The airline currently operates internal flights from Lisbon to Funchal, as well as Ponta Delgada. The 1,189 kilometre sector will face direct competition from Transavia (15 weekly flights) and TAP Portual (14). easyJet will use its A320 fleet four times weekly on the city pair.
