There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Chicago O’Hare to celebrate the launch of Volaris’ first US service from Monterrey on Friday 17 June. The twice-weekly, A320 service is the eighth route operated by the LCC between Mexico and Chicago, serving O’Hare from three airports and Midway from five. Only Guadalajara is connected to both Chicago airports.
- Volaris expanded its presence in the US with the introduction on 17 June of a new, twice-weekly (Mondays and Fridays) between Monterrey (MTY) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD). The 2,118-kilometre route is already operated by United Airlines with twice-daily flights. Volaris’s 174-seat A320s will be used on the route, its first international service from Monterrey. A second international service to Dallas/Fort Worth is set to launch in early July.
