Say it with flowers! The crew of the inaugural Asiana Airlines flight from Seoul Incheon to Sapporo Chitose each received a bouquet of flowers on 1 July. This becomes the Star Alliance carrier’s 15th route to Japan from the South Korean capital.
- Asiana Airlines has introduced a daily service between Seoul Incheon (ICN) and Sapporo Chitose (CTS) in Japan. On 1 July the Star Alliance carrier began service on the 1,419-kilometre route using a mix of 767-300s and A330-300s. The route is already served by three other local carriers; Korean Air (13 weekly flights) and Jin Air and t’way air, each operating a daily service. Asiana Airlines already serves 14 other Japanese destinations non-stop from Seoul with a total of 128 weekly flights. Japan is Asiana Airlines’ second biggest country market from Seoul Incheon after China, which is around 50% bigger for both weekly flights and seat capacity.
